Family Medicine
Training the next generation of Family Physicians
Our residency training opportunities are extensive and include our two-year Family Medicine Program, our three-year Integrated Family Medicine - Emergency Medicine Program, located in Saint John, New Brunswick as well as our three-year Enhanced Skills Program: Emergency Medicine, Care of the Elderly and Palliative Medicine.
Residents in our programs are matched, through the CaRMS process, to one of our nine family medicine training sites located in:
- Nova Scotia (Annapolis Valley, Cape Breton, Halifax, South West Nova, North Nova)
- New Brunswick (Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John)
- Prince Edward Island
Longitudinal curriculum
Our sites in the Annapolis Valley and South West Nova in Nova Scotia use the new “Triple C” curriculum of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. As such, training at those sites is entirely longitudinal rather than rotation-based.
Our program prepares its residents to be competent physicians who are able to offer a comprehensive, full scope family practice.
