Cumberland
Cumberland offers a mix of rural and small-town practice, where learners gain hands-on experience early on. You’ll work alongside physicians who know their patients and community well, and who enjoy teaching. It’s a setting that shows how adaptable and community-focused family medicine can be.
The Cumberland Regional Healthcare Centre is located on the outskirts of Amherst in Upper Nappan. This Regional Hospital serves as the primary academic hub for the Cumberland County LIC, hosting the majority of specialties and hospital-based learning experiences. Learners are integrated into a collaborative and supportive healthcare environment that serves the broader Cumberland County region.
Your longitudinal Family Medicine experience may be based in Amherst or one of the surrounding communities, including Oxford, Parrsboro or Pugwash, providing a comprehensive family medicine experience in a variety of community settings.
