Strengthening public health capacity through research

The Division of Public Health and Preventive Medicine will support and advance research focused on public health systems, population health, and disease prevention within Dalhousie’s Faculty of Medicine, in close partnership with Nova Scotia Health and regional health authorities. Research activity will be closely linked to the division’s academic and clinical mandate, strengthening the evidence base for public health practice across the Maritimes.

By fostering research that is closely connected to public health practice, the Division will contribute to building public health capacity, improving transparency, and strengthening collaboration across academic and health system partners. This research-informed approach aims to support the development of effective, equity focused public health strategies responsive to regional needs.
