This rotation offers students an opportunity to experience the practice of medicine in a rural community. 

Med I and II

Horizontal family medicine elective

Physicians must be within Halifax Regional Municipality or Saint John, as students have to travel between clinics and the medical school. Med I students have scheduled time either Monday or Wednesday afternoons, and Med II students have scheduled time on either Monday or Wednesday mornings.

Med III clerkship

Family medicine core rotation

Approx. 4½ days per week

Teaching Seminars occur on most weeks from 8:15–10:30

Students spend five half days per six-week block in the community with allied health professionals.

To be eligible for payment all student placements must be arranged by the Undergraduate Medical Education Office and the Dalhousie Family Medicine Medical Education Office. All student requests must go through the UME office to process their applications. http://undergraduate.medicine.dal.ca/

Family medicine residents
