Research and Other Scholarly Activities

Our team is building the foundation for a better health care system.

Our clinical and PhD faculty help lead the way locally, nationally and internationally, through research and other initiatives, toward healthier families and communities. Our work advances the understanding of health, illness, treatments, services and healthcare workforce challenges.

We undertake research and other scholarly activities in part through our local Practice-Based Research and Learning Network, BRIC NS (Building Research for Integrated Primary Care in Nova Scotia), a network that seeks to improve primary care and integrated services by building capacity for undertaking patient-oriented research with patients, communities, researchers, policymakers and other professionals in Nova Scotia. Some of our work is also undertaken through MaRNet (Maritime Family Practice Research Network), a primary care practice-based research network that conducts and supports family medicine and primary care research in practice-based settings.

We engage medical students, residents, other healthcare professionals, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from a variety of backgrounds; our goal is to improve patient outcomes by providing high quality evidence-based, patient-centred care. As part of the growing local, national and international family medicine and primary care research community, we welcome your interest and look forward to future collaborations.
