Division Head Message
An outstanding training ground for a complex subspecialty
General internal medicine (GIM) is a fascinating subspecialty that appeals to medical students, residents and physicians interested in the diagnosis and treatment of complex conditions and diseases in adults.
The Dalhousie Division of General Internal Medicine provides outstanding training for residents preparing for a career as a GIM consultant. Starting July 1, 2015, we offer a two-year general internal medicine subspecialty training, which is available to residents who have completed a three-year internal medicine residency. Division members are actively engaged in every level of education, including teaching medical students and continuing medical education for physicians.
Our division’s busy practice exposes medical students and residents to the full spectrum of patients and conditions seen by GIM specialists. Because we are a relatively small division, learners become part of the care team and family. As a medical student or resident you will receive a high level of one-on-one instruction and have the opportunity to diagnose and care for many patients. Our learners flourish in this environment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Allen Tran and Dr. Joffre Munro
