Education

Top clinical experts and a learner-focused environment

Medical students, residents and fellows can expect to gain basic to very specialized knowledge and skills in adult nephrology through the Division of Nephrology.

Our division offers a two-year subspecialty residency training program to which up to two candidates are accepted each year. Our program is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. We also welcome residents who wish to do a nephrology elective and those from internal medicine and urology who rotate through the nephrology service. Fellowships in nephrology and renal transplantation are available to residents who have completed subspecialty training in nephrology.

The Division of Nephrology also participates in the internal medicine residency program, offering rotations and seminars to residents in each of the three years of the program.

We provide undergraduate education as part of Dalhousie Medical School's core undergraduate curriculum and via electives.
