Excellence in obstetrics and gynaecology in the Maritimes and beyond
Dalhousie’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology provides outstanding clinical care to our patients and their families, educates medical students and residents, and undertakes important research.
Located at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as in various Nova Scotia Health Authority sites throughout the province, our department serves Maritime Canada and offers comprehensive, specialized interdisciplinary health care for women.
We deliver excellent obstetrical and gynaecological teaching and tackle important research at Dalhousie Medical School and the IWK Health Centre. We also take our skills to the world at large through our commitment to several global health initiatives and by providing continuing medical training for our own specialists while serving as a provincial resource for continuing medical education activities for general practitioners in the community.
Divisions and services
Our department members are dedicated general obstetricians and gynaecolgists, basic scientists, clinical researchers, and subspecialty clinicians who work in seven divisions:
