The Faculty Awards of Excellence in Education recognize outstanding contributions in education and teaching, excellence in the delivery of clinical care, and community service. Two awards have been created to acknowledge excellence in education among our faculty members, and to encourage their continued efforts in education. Categories include;

• The Faculty of Medicine Early Career Educator Award
• The Faculty of Medicine Award of Excellence in Education

The Community Teacher of the Year Award recognizes excellence in community-based teaching outside of a major academic centre (Halifax, NS, Sydney NS, and Saint John, NB).

The Faculty of Medicine Awards for Excellence in Medical Research acknowledge the considerable efforts and accomplishments of our faculty in the field of medical research. The three annual categories include:

• The Faculty of Medicine Excellence in Basic Research Award
• The Faculty of Medicine Early Career Investigator Award
• The Faculty of Medicine Excellence in Clinical Research Award

The Faculty of Medicine Awards for Excellence in Medical Research acknowledge the considerable efforts and accomplishments of our faculty who consistently serve as exemplary mentors of trainees and other faculty members. Categories include;

• Faculty of Medicine Award of Excellence in Research Mentorship of Faculty
• Faculty of Medicine Award for Excellence in Research Mentorship - Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

The Faculty of Medicine Award of Excellence in Teaching (MPAS Faculty) recognizes excellence in education among our Masters of Physician Assistant Studies faculty members, and aims to encourage their continued efforts in education

The Faculty of Medicine Wayne Putnam Award recognizes individuals who consistently contribute in notable ways to the continuing education of Maritime physicians. Those contributions could be in the form of teaching or organizing any form of continuing medical education program.

Two Awards for Excellence in Clinical Practice have been established in recognition of physician faculty members who serve as exemplary role models in delivering patient care of exceptionally high quality. Categories include:

• The Faculty of Medicine Award of Excellence in Clinical Practice

The Dr. Allan Cohen Memorial Award for Community Service honors the late Dr. Allan Cohen, a distinguished member of Dalhousie Medical School. This award recognizes faculty, staff, and students who work to fulfill the mission of the Medical School by displaying outstanding community service with health-related organizations and causes.

These awards recognize excellence in teaching by PhD faculty in undergraduate or graduate programs offered in the Faculty of Medicine. Nominees must hold a primary academic appointment (professoriate or instructor) in the Faculty of Medicine. Categories include:

• Early Career Excellence in Teaching (PhD Faculty)
• Excellence in Teaching (PhD Faculty)

The Faculty of Medicine Awards of Excellence in Leadership acknowledge excellence and recognize the importance of administrative leadership in the Faculty of Medicine. Categories include:

• The Faculty of Medicine Awards of Excellence, Professional & Managerial Leadership
• The Faculty of Medicine Awards of Excellence, Emerging Leader
• The Faculty of Medicine Awards of Excellence, Leadership in Administrative, Clerical & Technical Support
• The Faculty of Medicine Awards of Excellence, The Ryan Clow Team Collaboration Award
• The Faculty of Medicine Awards of Excellence, Valuing People Innovation Award
