PhD Grad Derek Clements was awarded the received the Graduate Student Excellence in Health Research Award from the Faculty of Medicine at its 20th annual Graduate Student Research Day this spring for the high quality of his research. He will be continuing his research as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University.

When Robert Johnson walked across Dalhousie’s convocation stage in 1998 to receive his medical degree, he was the first Mi’kmaq person to receive this degree from Dal. Johnson was barely 23 at the time, having enrolled in the medical school at the age of 18.
