Campus Sites
Dalhousie Medicine presently has two physical campuses. Seat allocation to each campus is based on an applicant's Place of Residence.
Dalhousie Medicine Nova Scotia (DMNS)- Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Admissions Offers to the DMNS Halifax site are allocated to eligible Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Out-of Province applicants
- New Brunswick applicants are not eligible for positions at DMNS-Halifax
- Supernumerary positions for Kuwait, students and MMTP are allocated to the DMNS-Halifax site
- Accepting an offer at the DMNS Halifax site acknowledges that the 4-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is based in Nova Scotia. This will include core clinical assignments in a variety of urban and non-urban locations throughout the Maritime Provinces. Med 3 Clerkship rotations (minimum of 48 weeks) are assigned to students approximately 7 months before Med 3 begins and will occur in Maritime communities. Students will have an opportunity to submit their preferences for sites before they are assigned although not all preferences can be fulfilled.
Dalhousie Medicine Nova Scotia Cape Breton Medical Campus (DMNS-CBMC) - Located in Sydney, Nova Scotia
- Admissions Offers to the DMNS-CBMC site are allocated Nova Scotia applicants who; are eligible under the Indigenous Admissions Pathway or Black Learners Admissions Pathway and have indicated a preference for a position at DMNS-CBMC or qualified Nova Scotia applicants with lived rural experience who have completed the online application specific to the Rural Applicant Pathway and/or have expressed DMNS-CBMC as their preferred campus site.
- New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Out-of-Province and supernumerary applicants are not eligible for positions at the DMNS-CBMC site.
- Students admitted to DMNS-CBMC will attend classes in Sydney, NS in years 1 and 2. Year 3 and 4 clinical clerkship placements will primarily be located in Cape Breton and rural NS communities, but also occur throughout the Maritime provinces.
- By accepting an offer to the DMNS-CBMC campus, the matriculant agrees to a 5 year return of service agreement to practice in a rural Nova Scotia community and a commitment to Family Medicine, or other area of generalist medicine need in rural Nova Scotia as determined by the provincial government. Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) - Located in Saint John, New Brunswick
- Admissions Offers to the DMNB-Saint John site are allocated to eligible New Brunswick applicants
- Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Out-of Province and supernumerary applicants are not eligible for positions at the DMNB-Saint John site
- Accepting an offer at the DMNB Saint John site acknowledges that the 4-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is based in New Brunswick. This will include core clinical assignments in a variety of urban and non-urban locations. Med 3 Clerkship rotations (minimum of 48 weeks) are assigned to students approximately 7 months before Med 3 begins and will occur in New Brunswick communities including Saint John, Fredericton, Miramichi, Moncton or Upper River Valley. Students will have an opportunity to submit their preferences for sites before they are assigned although not all preferences can be fulfilled.
Transfer between Nova Scotia Halifax, Nova Scotia Cape Breton and New Brunswick campuses are not permissible.
