Helping to finance your global health education

Our office works to support students completing global health education activities. There are some funds available for student bursaries, please read the details and submit your application below. If you have questions please contact the program manager.

Funding for Travel Bursaries and other Global Health Education Activities

The Global Health Office invites students in the Faculty of Medicine to submit applications to receive financial assistance to participate in local, national or international global health activities. Bursary applications are reviewed through the academic year so please apply early.

Eligibility:

  • ​Priority will be given to applications for under-serviced and remote communities in Canada or locations in low resourced settings outside of Canada and United States
  • The approval of an application for funding depends upon the availability of the fund and the established priority in relation to other requests

Dal Med Class of 72 Bursary (International, Med 4)

The Dal Med Class of 1972 have established an Endowment Fund with the Global Health Office to provide bursaries to fourth-year medical student to pursue an international education experience. 

Eligibility

In order to qualify for the bursary, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Fourth-year medical student at Dalhousie University
  • Non-government sponsored international medical student (international elective must be in a country different from their country of citizenship or permanent residency)
  • Complete pre-departure training organized through the Global Health Office
  • Complete the requirements for international travel as a Dalhousie University student
  • The elective destination must be approved by the Global Health Office
  • The elective must be approved by the Undergraduate Medical Education office
