Erasmus+ Funding Opportunity for Faculty and Staff to Travel to Graz, Austria
Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine has partnered with Medical University of Graz in Austria since 2023 to provide opportunities for staff and students to travel between our institutions. Med Uni Graz is a center of innovative, cutting-edge medicine in beautiful Graz, the second largest city in Austria, located in the south of the country.
Med Uni Graz has Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing programs as well as doctoral programs in a variety of disciplines. They have expertise in various research fields including sustainable health research, metabolism & circulation, cancer research, neuroscience, and microbiome & infection. Their Research Centers and Institutes include: the Otto Loewi Research Center for Vascular Biology, Immunology and Inflammation, Gottfried Schatz Research Center for Cell Signaling, Metabolism and Aging, Diagnostic and Research Center for Molecular Biomedicine among others. They also have a Medical Research Academy and offer International Biobanking Education courses.
We currently have Erasmus+ funding available to fund one staff member from Dalhousie to visit Med Uni Graz for a one-week training visit between January and July, 2026. The exact timing of the visit would be determined based on the proposed mobility program.
Successful applicants could receive 1,940 EUR to cover costs associated with their mobility such as program fees and travel costs. These funds are from the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (KA171). Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine employees, including faculty, staff and post-doctoral fellows are eligible to submit an expression of interest.
Those interested in this opportunity are encouraged to review the Med Uni Graz website to identify a course or a potential host and then submit the expression of interest form no later than October 15, 2025. The Office of Community Engagement will then contact Med Uni Graz to see if they are able to host you. The exact timing of the visit would be based on course dates, or would be determined collectively between you and the host in the case of an individual program.
Expression of Interest Forms are due at 11:59 pm on October 15, 2025.
After October 15th, expressions of interest will be reviewed and we will contact Medical University Graz to confirm that proposed visits can be accommodated.
You may then need to provide additional information or respond to follow up questions before the results are finalized. We will notify all applicants of the results as soon as possible.
Selection Process
All expressions of interest will be reviewed by the Manager (Global Health Education) and the Director (Office of Community Engagement).
Please note that priority will be given to:
- staff undertaking a training visit for the first time
- staff from Schools and departments which have not previously received funding for an Erasmus+ teaching/training visit
Other factors which will be considered:
- the relevance of this visit to the staff member’s role
- the potential impact of the visit upon the individual, the School and the Faculty of Medicine as a whole
- the staff member’s access to other travel opportunities
If you have questions about the process, please email ghep@dal.ca.
