Research Team: Dr. Wayne Putnam, Dr. Fred Burge, Dr. Nandini Natarajan, Beverley Lawson, Celeste Latter, Kristine VanAarsen

A team of Maritime community family doctors and university researchers from the Department of Family Medicine at Dalhousie University brought together to improve primary care of patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

  • Over 1100 patients from family practices across the Maritimes participated in this study
  • Data was abstracted from patients’ medical records
  • A patient survey was also conducted to explore the lifestyle, habits and attitudes of patients with hypertension and type 2 Diabetes.

The project is complete. We thank all of the patients who consented to participate, their family physicians, their health care providers and the funding agencies for supporting this project.
