Division Head Message

Linking treatment, education and research

The Division of Digestive Care and Endoscopy has an experienced team of academic clinicians dedicated to treating digestive diseases, providing students and residents with exceptional education and advancing knowledge and treatments through research.

Our clinicians and researchers are highly regarded as experts in inflammatory bowel disease, acid pepsin disease, motility disorders and liver failure and transplantation. Our faculty members lead major studies that focus on quality improvement and outcomes, while also advocating for patients through initiatives such as Nova Scotia’s colon screening program.

Our division is actively engaged in medical education at all levels. Because we serve as a major regional referral for digestive and liver diseases, our students and residents see a large number of patients with a wide variety of digestive and liver diseases. Combined with a high staff-to-learner ratio, our programs offer a truly outstanding educational experience.

All division members conduct research. We also encourage learners to actively participate in studies, presentations and conferences to develop a first-hand understanding of the role that clinical research plays in developing new knowledge, techniques and treatments.

Experience and expertise form the cornerstone of our division.
