Biography

Dr. Susan Freter is a staff geriatrician and associate professor of geriatric medicine at Dalhousie. She earned an MSc in Biobehavioral Science from the University of Connecticut, and completed her MD at McGill University. She did her residency training in internal medicine, as well as her fellowship in geriatric medicine, at McGill University. She completed an extra year of training in Geriatric Rehabilitation.

Research interests

Dr. Freter’s research interests include delirium. She has been the principle investigator on a pilot study in delirium prevention in elderly hip fracture patients. She developed a screening tool, the DEAR (Delirium Elderly At Risk) to help identify patients at increased risk of post-operative delirium.
