About

World-renowned clinicians, researchers and training program

The Division of Geriatric Medicine at Dalhousie University is the centre of training in geriatric medicine in the Atlantic provinces. We are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for our research activities and contributions to care of the elderly.

The cornerstone of our approach to patient care is comprehensive geriatric assessment and interdisciplinary treatment for frail older persons throughout Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces. This model of care provides an ideal training ground for medical students and residents. Education, in turn, enhances the quality of care in our division, and our dynamic research programs inform evidence-based practice.

Collaborative care

Our division works closely with government, health districts and advocacy groups to improve health policies, treatment protocols and public education regarding care and treatment of the frail elderly. Division faculty share their expertise serving on many national, regional and local research committees and networks.
