Whether you just entered medical school or you’re ready to take on a fellowship, there’s a good chance you’ll find what you’re looking for within the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences.
In addition to solid clinical programs, we have strong commitment to excellence in education. We place a heavy emphasis on undergraduate medical education, postgraduate medical education, and an ongoing program of continuing medical education for:
- family medicine practitioners
- ophthalmologists
- related health personnel
Our programs
Undergraduate education: If you’re a Dalhousie medical student, you can take an ophthalmology observership or elective. We also consider students from other Canadian universities.
Residency program: This is a comprehensive program that provides a strong base in ophthalmology through courses, clinical rotations, grand rounds and research opportunities.
Master’s or diploma: The Clinical Vision Science graduate program helps you develop knowledge and experience in the clinical vision sciences.
Fellowship programs: Focus your expertise with one of our three fellowships focusing on the areas of glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
