Dalhousie Global Mental Health Guest Lecture Series


Focusing on mental health inequities, the Dalhousie Global Mental Health Guest Lecture Series from the Department of Psychiatry will invite local, national, and international global mental health experts to present on topics of interest to psychiatrists, mental health clinicians, operational leads, policymakers, community mental health organizations, and the public.

Purpose

The purpose of the Dalhousie Global Mental Health Guest Lecture Series is to:

  • Provide a forum for knowledge dissemination, exchange, and advocacy for equity-deserving populations
  • Foster continuing professional development
  • Spark conversation, curiosity, and foster collaborations

Topics

Topics will focus on current research, and topical and contemporary issues related to global mental health.

Objectives

After attending the guest lecture series, participants will:

  • Have a broader understanding of current research and contemporary issues in global mental health.
  • Gain knowledge of the opportunities and challenges associated with initiatives aimed at addressing mental health inequities.
  • Have a broader understanding of the historical, political, economic, social, clinical, and technological contexts in which global mental health exists.

The Dalhousie Global Mental Health Guest Lectures Series from the Department of Psychiatry is offered in partnership with IWK Health, Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub, and the Office of Community Partnerships and Global Health, Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University.
