A case study of the development and implementation of the Meningitis A conjugate vaccine in sub Saharan Africa will allow us to: 1) Explore a global health vaccine initiative; 2) Understand the difference between disease, illness and sickness; 3) Recognize institutional, cultural and technological determinants of medical knowledge and practices; and 4) Consider how the social sciences offer more than qualitative methods to health research.

The PARTNERSHIPS FOR STRENGTHENING MATERNAL, NEWBORN AND CHILD HEALTH (PSMNCH) call for proposals is for a total value of up to $370 MILLION over five years (2015-2020) and has two streams.
