You are invited to attend a presentation by Dr. Thecla Kohi, School of Nursing, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. Dr. Kohi is a visiting scholar and Dalhousie University School of Nursing Alumnus from Tanzania, East Africa.

Dr. Kohi’s initial professional education was obtained in Tanzania (diploma in Nursing) and the United Kingdom (post graduate professional program in Midwifery). She was one of a group of Tanzanian registered nurses (RNs) who participated in the Tanzania Project here at the Dalhousie University School of Nursing in the 1990s. Dr. Kohi obtained her BScN (1990) and MN (1992) from Dalhousie as part of this innovative international project.

Dr. Kohi is a Senior Lecturer and former Dean of the School of Nursing, MUHAS. She has conducted studies on various health issues including: Stigma and HIV/AIDS, Access and Quality of Birth Care in Tanzania; The Problem of Obstetric Fistula and its Implications, Dar es Salaam; The Effect of Social Support Groups on Concerns, Coping Mechanisms and Quality of Life of Women with Cervical Cancer in Tanzania; Task Analysis of Nurses in African Health Services; Baseline and Impact Surveys on Nursing Care of Malaria.
