The following information was received from the Faculty of Medicine’s Medical Research Development Office. Please contact Wendy Weckworth at wendy.weckworth@dal.ca if you have any questions.

We are pleased to announce that Halifax will be the site of The International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM) 2025, taking place from April 3-6, 2025. The Congress is organized by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada and will feature talks by leading Canadian health researchers as well as presentations from graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, medical students and residents from all over Canada. A highlight of the event will be the Gairdner lectures and panel discussion. More than 1,500 leading academics, researchers, healthcare professionals, learners, and patient partners are expected to participate in this event.

The Congress will give research trainees the opportunity to present their work and establish connections with potential research supervisors and colleagues. It will also be attended by a diverse community of faculty and health researchers from around the world, who will discuss common themes in medical science and academic medicine and foster collaborations. In addition, the Congress will incorporate the experience of patients as experts in living with their condition.

Details about the Congress and the registration link can be found here: https://icam-cimu.ca. Abstract submission will open in early 2025 and will be available via the same link. We strongly encourage graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, medical students, and residents to submit abstracts to the Congress. Likewise, we encourage their supervisors and members of our health research community to attend the event.

We are pleased to announce that the Faculty of Medicine’s Medical Research Development Office can cover the registration fee for up to 75 trainee participants who submit an abstract. The fee will be covered on a “first come, first serve basis.” To obtain a promotion code for conference registration, please send a request for the code along with a copy of the abstract that you intend to submit to Wendy Weckworth at wendy.weckworth@dal.ca.

We look forward to meeting with you at the Congress.

Thank you,
