Discover new interests

As a medical student, you'll have the opportunity to explore your interests and discover a specialty by taking a horizontal elective during your first and second year. Our electives allow you to explore areas of interest before you begin your clerkship.

How to apply

We will circulate information on the application process for Family Medicine (Dalhousie students) Med 1 and Med 2 electives in August. Only Dalhousie learners are eligible are applicants for Med 1 and Med 2 electives. Applications are accepted by emailing fmcuc@dal.ca.

Please note: as we often have more requests for electives than the number of placements, we conduct a random draw of all applicants in September.
