About

Care, education and research related to hormonal and metabolic disorders

We’re here to provide the absolute best patient care, offer exceptional educational experiences and conduct leading research related to hormonal and metabolic disorders.

Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism members teach Dalhousie medical students and residents while delivering care in outpatient and inpatient settings at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. The majority of patients who need our expertise have diabetes. We provide state-of-the-art management of this disease by working closely with the Diabetes Management Centre and with specialist and primary care providers.

We also participate in clinics for patients with thyroid disorders, pituitary disorders, lipid disorders and osteoporosis. Our clinics include a joint endocrine-surgery clinic.

Through our division, medical students and residents are introduced to, and are able to specialize in, the care of people with a range of hormonal and metabolic disorders. You will build your knowledge and skills in a patient-focused and supportive interdisciplinary environment, under the direction of physicians and nurses who value evidenced-based practice and academic medicine.

Division members are active researchers with research interests in diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity, pituitary disorders and osteoporosis. We are also patient advocates and policy advisors.
