Residency Program
At Dalhousie Medical School, we provide highly regarded, accredited clinical training for over 50 specialty programs. As a resident, you’ll feel confident in the quality of your education, since our residency programs are approved by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Within the Department of Pathology, our residency programs include:
- Diagnostic and Clinical Pathology
- Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology
- Hematological Pathology
- Medical Microbiology
Our residencies will not only provide you with training experiences recommended by the Royal College’s Committee on Specialties, you’ll also attend inter- and intradepartmental conferences, as well as courses in pathobiology, medical biochemistry, immunology and medical microbiology.
How to apply for residency (Canadian Students)

Although you can apply anytime, please note that all appointments begin annually on July 1st and most appointments are determined before January of each year.
