Dalhousie's Department of Psychiatry has earned national and international recognition as a provider of excellent quality and innovative continuing education programs and services. The overall goal of the department is to provide leadership in mental health education for psychiatrists, other mental health professionals, family physicians and the community, with the ultimate aim of promoting the highest standards of mental health care.
The Department of Psychiatry and its affiliated teaching hospitals offer a diversified continuing education program. All regularly occurring educational activities, including university rounds and clinical academic rounds have been accredited as group learning activities as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Annual educational events include the Atlantic Canada Psychosis Conference, the W.O. McCormick Annual Academic Day and the Department of Psychiatry Research Day.
