Purpose:
The Transformational Medical Research Grants program provides a significant investment in research projects and teams that are on the cusp of making a significant discovery or advancement in their field. The grant will accelerate success and enable the team to capitalize on emerging opportunities. The funding available for 2025 is $1M to fund research projects over three years. Successful applicants will submit an annual progress report due on the anniversary of the project start date. The River Philip Foundation has generously funded this award.
Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine researchers will be asked to submit a notice of intent by Friday 29 November 2025.
Successful proposals will be notified by Friday 25 April 2025

Notice of Intent - Submission Process
- Call for applications begin in Friday 18 October 2024
- Applications submitted by eligible research teams by Friday 29 November 2024.
- Applications must be a single PDF containing the following:
- Completed Notice of Intent Form.
- CCV Academic format of applicant and co-applicants.
- PDF file naming conventions: Researcher Last Name_Researcher First Name_TMGP_2024-2025
- Email application to Medical Research Development Office (mrdo@dal.ca) and submit via ROMEO.
- Scientific Review Committee reviews and ranks applications and identifies by mid-December 2024.
Final Applications
Notice of Intents that are selected by the Scientific Review Committee will be invited to submit a full application by Friday 14 March 2025
