The River Philip Foundation Transformational Team Medicine Research Grants
Open: Calls for Notice of Intent will Launch in October 2024
Purpose:
The River Philip Foundation Transformational Team Medicine Research Grants provide a significant investment in research projects and teams on the verge of a significant discovery or advancement in their field. The grant will accelerate success and enable the team to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
Transformational Medical Research Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis to support proposals that demonstrate the potential to significantly advance medical knowledge in the domain proposed and are led by a principal investigator and team with a research and academic track record that supports the proposal's success. Proposals that advance the field of healthy aging and/or community impact with a focus on rural and underserved populations are of particular interest. The program will launch in early 2024 awarding two million dollars over three years to fund selected research proposals.
Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine researchers will be asked to submit a notice of intent in October 2025.
Term:
Research projects will span up to three years.
Award Value and Number of Awards:
The award value and number of available awards will depend on funding available, and quality of proposals received. In 2025, the funding available is $1.0 million dollars to fund proposals over 3 years.
Eligibility and Criteria:
- The Principal Investigator must be a Dalhousie University Professor holding a primary appointment with the Faculty of Medicine and have received previous extramural funding
- The principal investigator and team must have a research and academic track record that supports the success of the proposal
Selection process:
Notice of Interest Submission Process:
- Call for applications begin in early October.
- Applications submitted by eligible research teams by late November.
- Applications must be a single PDF containing the following:
- Completed Expression of Interest Form.
- CCV Academic format of applicant and co-applicants.
- PDF file naming conventions: Researcher Last Name_Researcher First Name_TTGP_2025
- Email application to Medical Research Development Office (mrdo@dal.ca) and submit via ROMEO.
- Scientific Review Committee reviews and ranks applications and identifies a short list to be invited to full application by mid-December.
Final Application Process:
- NOIs selected by the Scientific Review Committee will be invited to submit a full application by Friday 14 March 2025.
- Applications must be a single PDF containing the following:
- Completed Proposal Form.
- Completed Budget Form.
- PDF file naming conventions: Researcher Last Name_Researcher First Name_TTGPFinal_2024
- Completed proposals are to be submitted to the Medical Research Development Office (mrdo@dal.ca) and are required to update the initial ROMEO application.
- The Scientific Review Committee will review the submitted proposals rank them and recommend the top proposals for funding.
- Successful proposals will be notified by Friday 25 April 2025.
