Medical Records Keeping Course
Everything we do in healthcare involves some degree of communication, be it visual, verbal or written. Communicating effectively involves ensuring the proper and complete transfer of information from one to another.
In the practice of medicine, the provision of appropriate care necessitates the seamless and flawless flow of this information to ensure continuous, collaborative care. When this flow of information is incomplete or contains error, it disrupts patient care.
This medical records keeping course is designed to provide information on standards of care in medical record keeping in Nova Scotia and across Canada. Content includes guidelines on documentation, and useful tools to facilitate the correct documentation and storage of information in all aspects of patient care.
You will gain knowledge of what constitutes adequate documentation of a clinical encounter, learn current guidelines for storing and sharing information, and consider the standards and guidelines around patient consent.
The course is housed on Dalhousie University’s learning platform, Brightspace.
The cost is $495 and can be paid during registration. You will receive a formal certificate of completion. For more information, please contact Laurel King. To register for this course, please use this link: Medical Records Keeping course.
