Clinical Traineeship Program
Take your knowledge further
Maybe you want to enhance your skills in a particular area. Perhaps you’re in a rural emergency care setting and want to do a two-week traineeship in pain management or airways. Or maybe your patient base is aging and you’d like a short, intensive program on palliative medicine.
The Clinical Traineeship Program is designed to give you a crash course in anything you’d like to learn more about. As a participant, you’ll gain new skills by working alongside faculty and other tutors. Your experience may take place in locations across the Maritimes, depending on availability.
The program includes:
- observation and practice of clinical skills;
- self-directed learning;
- ward rounds and grand rounds;
- outpatient clinics; and
- discussion with faculty advisor.
We generally offer opportunities in a variety of disciplines. Past opportunities have included:
- Anesthesia
- General medicine
- Cardiology
- Palliative medicine
- Pediatrics
- Radiation oncology
- General surgery
- Urology
How to apply
Ready to get started?
Please fill in this form [pdf 50 kB] and send it to us (full information is on the form). Before sending, please save this with your name and the file name.
Simply submit your request, at least two months in advance, to Mary Ann Robinson at cpd@dal.ca or 902-494-2173. Be sure to explain what you’re hoping to learn and state your preferred start date. We can work with you to develop a personalized traineeship that will work for you. We will also need to ensure the availability of the faculty members involved—so be prepared to provide some flexibility on your start date.
