Mentorship & Academic Support

Resources for Success

Keknu’tmasiek Ta’n Tel Welo’ltimk provides mentorship to members of the Indigenous community in a variety of ways. From community or school presentations, individual meetings with advisors or health professionals from the community, or more formal mentorship through the Circle of Support Mentorship Program, our aim is to support and inspire Indigenous learners.

Ultimately, we strive to assist students from various levels, grade schoolers to undergraduates, on their journey toward a career in medicine. To do this we are creating well defined pathways for indigenous learners to gain entrance into Dalhousie’s Medicine program and establishing a support network that will assist them throughout their training until they successfully complete the program.

There are a number of resources available within the Indigenous Health in Medicine Program, which offers many resources and information sessions to help you succeed. Such topics include:

  • Studying skills
  • Time Management
  • Research Skills
  • Academic Counselling

Atlantic Indigenous Mentorship Network (AIM)

The Network is a collaboration among universities, communities and community-based organizations, and Indigenous governments in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Our goal is to support Indigenous-led health research in the Atlantic region.
