The Ebola Outbreak: Looking back, lessons learned. Looking forward, improving global health security.

The Consortium of Universities for Global Health presents The Ebola Outbreak: Looking back, lessons learned. Looking forward, improving global health security.

The Ebola Outbreak of 2014-15 in West Africa sent shockwaves around the world. It laid bare our grossly inadequate response to a global health threat and the terrible state of affairs of health systems in the three most affected countries, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Dr. Peter Piot, co-discoverer of the Ebola virus, and current director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine will discuss what went wrong and what we need to do to prevent and respond to future outbreaks. He has been an articulate, eloquent yet forceful voice for the changes that need to occur to protect all of us from future lethal disease outbreaks

Prof. Larry Gostin is the Faculty Director of the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University and Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Public Health Law & Human Rights. Prof. Gostin is a world leader in global health law and has championed innovative solutions that will enable the global community to collaborate and respond more effectively to health emergencies.

These are two of the most knowledgeable individuals in the world on preventing, predicting, and responding to a global health threat. Join us for this exciting webinar that will take place on February 26th 2015 at 12pm EST. (1 pm Atlantic Time)
