Through a social accountability mandate, Dalhousie Medicine offers an optional Service Learning Program to pre-clerkship Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) students in both Halifax and DMNB campuses. The service learning program includes preparation, community-based service learning experiences (takes place in the second year of UGME with minimum of 20 hours focused on the completion of a project based on community-identified needs) and critical reflection.
