Date: Fri. Oct. 19, 2018 @ 7 PM
Location: East Preston Family Resource Center
This free red carpet event is to highlight the artistic talents of the African Nova Scotian Youth through silent auction and performances by dance group Studio 26 and singer Julia Tynes.
The event has been funded by the Department of Community Service Sexual Violence Prevention Grant. The East Preston Family Resource Center has connected with youth in East Preston to discuss building a strong identity of who they are by teaching them about their past in hopes of encouraging a positive future. Through mentorship and conversations with the youth about their talents and challenges they face as African Nova Scotian youth, the East Preston Family Resource Center has given them an opportunity to share their artwork (paintings, drawings) through a silent auction with their community and in turn, we ask the community to support them.
