Orthopedic Surgery
The division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Dalhousie University is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Our 16 surgeons represent every subspecialty of orthopaedic surgery. We combine teaching, research and clinical care at the Nova Scotia Health Authority (primarily at the Halifax Infirmary and the Dartmouth General Hospital), the IWK Health Centre for Children, Women and Families, and Dalhousie University. Our team sees more than 40,000 patients a year and operates on over 6,000 surgical cases.
Our five-year residency program is one of the best in the country, attracting the top medical students from across this great land. Along with teaching residents, we also teach classes for Dalhousie Medical School and offer elective rotations for off-service residents and medical students from Dalhousie and across Canada. Our division boasts a robust fellowship program, with several opportuities to learn specialized skills in our field.
A very important part of our team is all our graduates—our alumni. We have Dalhousie-trained orthopaedic surgeons working around the world and we invite them all back each year to celebrate our graduating class. If you graduated from Dalhousie Orthopaedics, please get in touch with us on our alumni page.
