  • Coma or sustained loss of consciousness
  • Acute vision loss
  • Acute paralysis
  • Status epliepticus
  • Suspected transient ischemic attack (TIA) or non-disabling stroke in the past week
Process

Urgent
Criteria (not all inclusive)
  • Suspected TIA or stroke in the previous 1-4 weeks
Process
1) FAX letter or referral form marked URGENT with details to 902-473-4438
Semi-Urgent
Criteria (not all inclusive)
  • Suspected TIA or stroke in the past 1-3 months
  • New onset seizures
Process
1) FAX letter or referral form with details to neurologist of choice
Non-Urgent 1
Criteria (not all inclusive)
  • Progressive pain syndrome
  • Epilepsy management
  • Non-specific sensory-motor symptoms
  • Neurologic conditions - dementia, ataxia, movement disorders
Process
1) FAX letter or referral form with details to neurologist of choice
Non-Urgent 2
Criteria (not all inclusive)
  • Second opinion
  • Chronic pain or chonic daily or recurrent headache
