Cancer Mechanisms & Therapy

Working on potential new cancer therapies

Several cancers can be cured when the tumor is still located on its original organ. When cancer cells begin to spread elsewhere in the body, chances of survival declines rapidly.

We characterize the effects of a chemokine G protein coupled receptor, cannabinoid receptors, involved in cancer metastasis. We identified a protein interaction that appears to regulate cannabinoid receptors functions and signaling towards migration.

We characterize this interaction that links environmental changes to migratory signaling and will develop strategies to target this interaction for potential new therapies.
