Molecular and Genetic Physiology
Investigating underlying causes
Research on the correlation between specific genetic mutations and disease development and progression provides tools to enable health care teams to select best treatment strategies for their patients. Currently our research teams are studying:
- molecular and cellular biology of ion channels and receptors
- lysosomal ion channels/transporters
- growth factors, tumour suppressors and cancer
- RNA-directed epigenetic regulation of gene expression
- role of neuropeptide VIP in respiratory diseases
- molecular analysis of cystic fibrosis
- epidemiology of cystic fibrosis in the Maritimes and medication adherence
- protein-protein interactions at retinal synapses
