Summer Internship in Psychiatry (SIIP)

An opportunity for first year medical students

The Department of Psychiatry offers a program at Dalhousie called SIIP: Summer Internship in Psychiatry. This is a one-week program open to students who have just finished Med 1 and are interested in learning more about psychiatry. The program will run at the end of the academic year in May 2023. It will be held in Halifax, and is open to students from both the Halifax and Saint John campuses.

During this week, students will meet with psychiatrists from various subspecialties, psychiatry residents, and allied health professionals. The week will include:

• Interactive Educational Sessions
• Interview Skills Practice
• Clinical Elective Placements
• Exposure to Different Fields of Psychiatry
• Interaction with real patients
• Social Events with Psychiatry Residents
