Matching Funding
Meeting your funding requirements
Many external grants require a matching contribution from your department/institution.
If you’ve applied for this type of grant, we can help you meet the funding agency’s request by providing up to $50,000 in match funds for the current academic year.
Eligibility
To apply, you must be a faculty member of the Department of Surgery who is in the applicaiton process of a major NGO's consideration. Ample time must be made for review of the grant application - by a selected number of research committee members and determination of allocation of department reserach dollar investment can be made.
- Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)
- Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF)
- Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
The grant must require matching funds, and you are required to apply to all relevant funding sources.
How to apply
Assemble an application package that includes:
- a copy of the grant application
- a budget justifying the matching funds
- proof that you applied to other funding sources - or a plan to submit further funding applications.
Send the completed package and one electronic copy to Elaine Kosziwka-Marsh
The research office will accept applications for match funding considerations throughout the year. A letter to the office to indicate intent to apply for such funds should be sent - in order to help build the reviewers and establish funding consideration.
