Kuwaiti & Saudi Sponsored Positions

Dalhousie University Undergraduate Medical Education Program participates in partnership agreement with the State of Kuwait and the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau in creating limited number of externally sponsored positions for entry into first year.  

Applicants applying to the Kuwaiti or Saudi sponsored positions must meet all academic and non-academic requirements as those applying through our general application stream. 

Applicants must indicate their intent to be considered under the Kuwaiti sponsored positions or the Saudi sponsored positions within Section 1 of the online application.

Applicants who are successful receive offers which are conditional upon confirmation of sponsorship by the Kuwaiti Cultural Bureau or the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau.

Requirements

In order to be eligible for admission for Kuwaiti or Saudi sponsored positions, applicants must meet all Maritime academic requirements as well as all non-academic requirements. 

Place of Residence

Canadian Citizen/Permanent Residents are not eligible to apply under these streams. 

Degree Requirement

Applicants are required to complete a four year (120 credit hour) Bachelor of Science degree granted by Dalhousie University. This degree must be complete prior to the start of the undergraduate medical education program. 

GPA Requirement

A minimum GPA of 3.3 is required for eligibility. For more information on how your GPA is assessed please click here.

Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)

An MCAT score completed within the past 5 years.  Maritime MCAT thresholds are determined in relation to GPA, for more information please click here.

Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics (CASPer)

All applicants are required to complete CASPer on designated dates for Dalhousie Medicine within the current application cycle. For more information please click here.

Section 2 Online Application

Must complete and submit Section 2 of the online application by the stated deadline which includes 5 short answer questions.

 

 

Seat Allocation

All eligible Kuwaiti and Saudi applicants may be considered for a limited number of first year positions at the Halifax campus only. 

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available positions prioritization of selection will be based on;

  • top ranked applicants according to total application score.
