Date: Oct 24, 2014
Time: 9:00-11:00am
Location: Rowe Management Building, Room 1016, Dalhousie University
The small country of Bhutan measures its success by Gross National Happiness instead of Gross Domestic Product. Its Gross National Happiness Commission uses a comprehensive and holistic policy tool to assess the potential effects of legislative and other policies on equitable and sustainable well-being and happiness. John de Graaf will use an abbreviated version of Bhutan’s policy tool to guide participants through a fully participatory exercise in assessing the proposed Energy East pipeline. He will show how you can adapt the policy tool to assessments in legislative bodies, government agencies, non-profit organizations and businesses to achieve a deeper understanding of the full impact of policies and proposals. You will learn how to use the tool and take it with you to share with others.
