Date: November 7, 2014
Time: 10:00am-3:30pm
Location: Johanna B Oosterveldt (JBO) Centre, 2103 Gottingen Street, Halifax
An advisory group of members from around the province has proposed the following goals for the meeting:
1) Review the status of poverty reduction in Nova Scotia
2) Discuss how we can move the agenda forward
- Small group discussions will:Provide an opportunity for policy interest groups to share information and discuss ideas and opportunities for concerted action locally and provincially on major poverty reduction policy themes (e.g., Income Assistance; Employment Support; Housing and Homelessness; RuralTransit/Transportation; Early Learning and Childcare
- Provide an opportunity for regional groupings of participants to share information and consider action on poverty reduction in their communities/regions
3) Discuss the idea of a CSEP Provincial Report Card on Poverty Reduction as a strategy to raise the profile of poverty reduction at policy and political levels, as well as in our communities
4) Consider how we can organize ourselves and better communicate to advocate for a stonger Poverty Reduction Strategy in Nova Scotia
