Global health and the Sustainable Development Goals: Gender Equality (SDG # 5) “Women as Agents of Change”

This free public lecture is presented by the Global Health Office and the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC).

International Development Week (IDW) aims to encourage Canadians—especially youth—to learn more about and contribute actively to international development.

This year, we are focusing on the theme of “Violence Against Women” and intend to bring together a panel of experts to speak to this issue. Our hope is to be able to connect the work that is happening globally with the work being undertaken domestically in Canada. This is important given the universality principles within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/sdgs.

We are excited to welcome human rights activist, journalist and award winning author Sally Armstrong to Dalhousie University. The three-time amnesty international media award winner and member of the Order of Canada has covered stories about women and girls in conflict zones across the globe, and will speak about gender equality drawing from her own extensive experience.

Space is limited so please reserve your spot on our Event Brite event page.
