Research

The Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences has a strong research program that encompasses both clinical and basic science research components. Medical undergraduate students are encouraged to explore the different areas of research including oculogenetics, retina, retina and optic nerve, glaucoma, and pediatric vision science. If you would like more information about research opportunities within our department, please feel free to contact the Research Manager at ophthalmology.research@dal.ca.

Research in Medicine

The Research in Medicine (RIM) program through Dalhousie University provides an opportunity for Dalhousie medial undergraduate students to work in a research laboratory during their undergraduate degree. Students are eligible to receive a $5,000 studentship to conduct research over one summer. All applications for this funding opportunity are made through Dalhousie University, not the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, so interested students are encouraged to explore the RIM website for eligibility information and application details. Specific questions about the RIM program can be directed to the RIM coordinator.

If you are interested in conducting research in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences as part of the RIM program, please contact our Research Manager at ophthalmology.research@dal.ca for more information.
