Facilities & Teaching Sites
A province-wide program
As a distributed medical education program, Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick has five main teaching sites throughout the province:
As a DMNB student, you’ll spend your first two years doing pre-clinical studies in Saint John, and your third year completing a clerkship at various sites across the province.* Your fourth year electives can take place in a wide range of locations based on your preferences as a student.
Saint John facilities
Your Saint John pre-clinical studies are held in the Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick Building on the University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ) campus. You’ll enjoy being close to everything you need, including:
- UNBSJ’s Ganong Hall (sciences building)
- UNBSJ’s KC Irving Hall (nursing and health sciences)
- NBCC's Allied Health Centre
- Saint John Regional Hospital
As a student, you’ll also have access to UNBSJ's facilities, including the Hans W. Klohn Commons (library) and fitness centre.
Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship Dalhousie (LICD)
The Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Miramichi Regional Hospital, Upper River Valley Hospital, and Moncton Hospital are longitudinal integrated clerkship sites. When entering your third-year studies, you can choose to enter a lottery to obtain an LICD spot at one of these sites. This type of clerkship differs from the standard clerkship program because, instead of travelling between teaching sites during clerkship, you'll be based in Fredericton, Miramichi, Moncton, or Waterville.
