Fredericton Teaching Site
Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital
Situated west-centrally in New Brunswick and spanning 23,251 km2, Fredericton and the surrounding health service area is the largest geographic region in the province.
Our integrated network of hospitals, health centres, and specialty care programs provides a broad range of health care services to 166,000 residents or 21,7% of the province's population. All sites are within driving distance of the regional hospital, located in Fredericton, the province's historic capital.
Facilities in the region are linked with access to a region-wide patient care information system. In addition to a full range of medical, clinical, and therapeutic programs and services, the region is supported by an internationally recognized Extra-Mural Program, comprehensive rehabilitation services at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, a Veterans Health Unit, an emerging Telehealth program, and the largest diagnostic capabilities.
Patient care is comprehensive, integrated, and team-based. In addition to being a leading Orthopeadic and Plastic Surgery Centre, the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital provides Primary, Secondary, Elevated Secondary, and selected Tertiary Services (neonatal intensive care, dialysis service). It is also a Dalhousie University Family Medicine Teaching partner and a site for the Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick and Memorial University clerkship programs.
