Upper Extremity Surgeon, Assistant Professor

Dr. Devin Ferguson grew up in Nova Scotia and attended St. Francis Xavier University for his undergraduate degree. He obtained his medical degree and completed his Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at Dalhousie University. Dr. Ferguson then further subspecialized in reconstructive surgery of the upper limb at the Roth|McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Centre in London, Ontario. During his fellowship, Dr. Ferguson obtained a Masters in Surgical Science from Western University. His thesis focused on a biomechanical comparative study of surgical techniques for the management of massive irreparable rotator cuff tears.

Dr. Ferguson returned as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Dalhousie University in 2023. Since his return, Dr. Ferguson has built a practice in shoulder, elbow, and wrist surgery. His practice is comprised of the management of both traumatic and degenerative conditions of the upper extremity, with a particular interest in reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Ferguson’s research interests are broad, with several projects in quality improvement, access to timely care, clinical study, and infection control.
