Dr. Duncan Smith, MD, FRCSC

Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from Dalhousie University's Faculty of Medicine in 2012. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Dalhousie, earning his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 2017. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee reconstruction at the Concordia Hip and Knee Institute, in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2018. Following this he returned with his family to Nova Scotia he joined the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University as an Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction, including hip and knee replacements as well as general orthopaedic trauma.
Dr. Smith has interests in health-care efficiency and out-patient and ambulatory total joint replacement. He operates out of both the Halifax Infirmary and Dartmouth General Hospital and has clinics at both hospitals and at his office in the Queen Square building in Dartmouth.
Outside of the hospital, Dr Smith enjoys a variety of sports, playing music and spending time with family in both the Halifax area and Annapolis Valley.
