Richard T. Hurley is a full time Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Dalhousie University. Dr. Hurley specializes in adult hip and knee replacement (arthroplasty) with privileges at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Dr. Hurley is a University of Toronto graduate (2011) who completed further specialist training in complex hip and knee replacement at the Mount Sinai Hospital (2013) and fracture reconstruction at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (2012). He was trained by several eminent surgeons in world-renowned academic units at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hurley relocated to the Maritimes and established his practice in Halifax (2014). Dr. Hurley is dedicated to quality improvement in healthcare and was appointed Surgeon Champion for the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) for the Nova Scotia Health Central Zone (2023). He is a Member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
