Martin Prize

Rewarding nuclear medicine students

Every year, we present a prize to a deserving student graduating from the Dalhousie Bachelor of Science Nuclear Medicine Program. The prize, which is given to the student with the highest evaluation in clinical and academic performance over the four years of the program, is made possible by the Robert Martin endowment.

Dr. Robert Martin

Dr. Robert Henry Martin was born in Edmunston, New Brunswick. He received a B.A. from St. Louis University in 1957, a B.Sc. from St. Francis Xavier University in 1960, and his MD degree in 1966 from Dalhousie University.

In 1977, after completing his radiology residency at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, and his nuclear medicine training at the Montreal General Hospital, Dr. Martin became the director of nuclear medicine at the Victoria General Hospital.

Throughout his career, Dr. Martin was a dedicated teacher in the radiology residency program at Dalhousie and a mentor to many nuclear medicine technologists.
